Prof. Rotimi Olatunji Ettu is the 6th Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University.

Prof. Ettu is a distinguished academics and researcher with a robust background in Animal Science and Agricultural Education. He is a native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, he embarked on a journey of academic excellence that led him to various institutions across Nigeria.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu pursued his Secondary Education at Offa Community High School, Offa, Kwara State; while he obtained his Bachelor’s degree at University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (now known as Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta). He also furthered his studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye where he obtained his M.Sc. in Animal Science in 2005, he also acquired a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Tai Solarin University of Education in 2007 followed by a Ph.D. in Animal Science, specializing in Ruminant Nutrition, in 2010 at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu commenced his career at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching and Research Farm, Ago-Iwoye, between 1995 and 1998. He taught briefly as an Agricultural Science Teacher at Molipa High School, Ijebu Ode. He later worked at Ayokunle Farms Limited, Ijebu Ode. His commitment to the agricultural sector extended to his service at the Ministry of Agriculture, Veterinary Department, Gombe, during his Youth Service between 1997 and 1998.

In 2005, Prof. Rotimi Ettu transitioned into the academics, joining the services of Tai Solarin University of Education, where he steadily ascended the ranks. Notably, he reached the pinnacle of his academic career, attaining the esteemed position of Professor of Animal Nutrition on October 1st, 2020.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu has made significant contributions to the academic community, particularly in the field of Animal Science. His supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students underscores his dedication to nurturing the next generation of scholars. Over the years, he has supervised numerous students at various levels, demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu is actively involved in several learned societies, including the Farm Management Association of Nigeria, Agricultural Society of Nigeria, Nigeria Society for Animal Production, and International Goat Association (IGA). His engagement in these organisations reflects his passion for advancing agricultural research and practice.

Within the University system, Prof. Rotimi Ettu has held several key positions, including:

  • Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Vocational Studies.
  • Member of the University Senate and Governing Council.
  • Director of the Institute of Vocational Training and Research in Agriculture, among others.

These roles underscore his leadership qualities and his commitment to academic administration and development.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu has actively contributed to both academic and non-academic endeavours beyond the University. He has served as an External Examiner at Tai Solarin College of Education and has held various leadership positions within the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Additionally, he is involved in Alumni Associations, Community Development Initiatives, and Religious Organisations, demonstrating his holistic approach to service.

Prof. Rotimi Ettu is a specialist in animal nutrition, with particular focus on ruminants such as cattle and sheep. His research interests encompass various aspects of ruminant nutrition, reflecting his dedication to addressing critical issues in animal agriculture.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Prof. Rotimi Ettu enjoys reading and playing football, highlighting his commitment to personal growth and physical well-being.

Until his recent appointment, Prof. Ettu was the Director, Centre for Vocational and Entrepreneurial Studies (CENVOS).
