TASUESS HOLDS 23RD VALEDICTORY SERVICE AND PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY

The Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Prof. Oluwole Banjo FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, DFSIN, has appealed to the graduating students of its demonstration School, Tai Solarin University of Education Secondary School (TASUESS) to imbibe the sterling qualities of the late revered Educationist, Dr Tai Solarin, whom the University was named after.

He made the appeal during the School’s 23rd Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Ceremony.

In a stirring address, the Vice-Chancellor and proprietor of TASUESS, Prof Oluwole Banjo urged the graduating students to uphold the values of integrity, compassion, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

He emphasized the importance of the principles championed by the late DR Tai Solarin. Prof. Banjo reminded the Students that Education extends beyond the classroom.

“You are entering a world that is rapidly changing, the challenges you will face are significant, but so also are the opportunities. Remember that Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is about fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of responsibility to your community and the world,” he noted.

Prof. Banjo’s speech also highlighted the need for graduates to give back to their Alma Mata and Communities, drawing inspiration from Tai Solarin’s legacy of service and social responsibility.

“Use your talents and skills to make a positive impact in society,the world is waiting for you, go forth with confidence, embrace your potential, and make your mark,” he further added.

The Chairman of the TASUESS Board of Governors, Prof. Adekunle Bamiro, in his speech during the ceremony praised the celebrants for their hard work and perseverance, noting that they now stand “at the threshold of new beginnings”.

Prof. Bamiro extended his deepest gratitude to Prof. Banjo for his visionary leadership, which he described as the cornerstone of the Institution’s success.

“Your tireless efforts, innovative vision, and unwavering belief in the transformative power of Education have laid the foundation for the success of these Students,” Bamiro stated.

The School Principal, Mrs. A.A. Omoyele, also took the stage to express her pride in the Students’s accomplishments, highlighting their academic excellence and the moral values instilled by the School.

She emphasized the importance of the National Policy on Education, which guides the School’s academic structure, empowering Nigerian children with the knowledge and skills necessary for Nation-building.

Mrs. Omoyele acknowledged the dedication and commitment of both the teaching and non-teaching staff, whose efforts have inspired the students to embrace the School’s philosophy of respect, the dignity of labour, and selfless service.

“When Students appreciate and embody these values, we achieve our dream as a School, and it helps the Nation achieve its goals,” she added.

The PTA Chairman, Mr Raphael Babalola Olagunju, congratulated the graduates and commended the Educators and administrators for their invaluable contributions to the student’s development.
He encouraged the students to continue to strive for excellence, focus on acquiring 21st-century skills, and promote environmental protection and health.

The 23rd Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Ceremony at TASUESS was a day of celebration and reflection, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for the graduating class. The event concluded with prayers for the continued success and prosperity of the Students, staff, and the entire School Community.

The event, which honoured the graduating class of 2024, was graced by esteemed guests, including the Management team of the University, members of the TASUESS Board of Governors, School Management, Staff, Parents, guardians and the press.
