The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, has announced a commendation service in honour of its former Director, TASUED Ventures, the late Prof. Abiodun Adebowale Ojo.
The commendation service will take place on Thursday, 27th June 2024, at the 2012 TETFund Hall, starting at 9:00 a.m. This event will precede the burial ceremonies.
Members of the university community, along with late Professor Ojo’s students and mentees, are cordially invited to attend.
Professor Ojo was a distinguished Professor of Programme Evaluation. His dedication to education spanned decades. He joined the then Ogun State College of Education, Ijagun, in 1980 as a Lecturer III and played a pivotal role in the institution’s transition to a university. He served as the Chairman of the Governing Council Committee and the Pioneer Director of the Centre for Part-Time and External Programme (CEPEP).
Professor Ojo’s leadership qualities were widely recognized throughout his career. He served as the pioneering Provost of Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, for eight years. Additionally, he held prestigious positions such as Chairman of the Committee of Provosts for the 48 State Colleges of Education and member of the Governing Board of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
He also served as Director of TASUED Ventures and was later appointed by the Oyo State Government as the Chairman of the Governing Council, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State.
At the time of his passing, Professor Ojo was on a sabbatical appointment with Archdeacon Alayande University of Education, Oyo. He was scheduled to retire from the university in December 2024, upon attaining the age of 70.
