The training and re-training of members o f st aff of the University would continue to be the cardinal programme of the Management team of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State. This was the submission of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wole Banjo who was represented by the Acting Registrar, Mr Dapo Oke during the recent induction ceremony for the 36 newly converted staff of the Institution. “We will continue to train our staff in their chosen career and professions”, he added. He reiterated that Continuous Professional Development(CPD) would now form part of the yardstick for promotional exercise in the Institution. Similarly, the teaching staff of the University would also have to publish journals in reputable local and international journals as conditions for promotion while the Non- Teaching staff must also show evidence of attendance at Conferences and Workshops for promotion. Prof. Wole Banjo congratulated the converted staff urging them to put in their best and exhibit traits of professionalism in their day to day operations. ” I want to use this opportunity to encourage you to put in your best and contribute positively in such areas as punctuality to work, efficiency and dedication to duty, management of information, preservation of University image and culture both within and outside the University and being productive in all ramification”, he noted. The Acting Registrar, Mr Dapo Oke in his welcome address emphasized professionalism as a major ingredient for University administrators in the 21st Century.
He further added that the newly converted staff should make sure that they attend the weekly training organised for the Registry staff as a springboard for being a professional. Mr Dapo Oke equally urged all to be ICT compliant most especially in this era of the new normal where everything is becoming computerized. “You don’t just know the job but you should Master it”, he further added.
The lead paper of the training titled: Understanding and Taking up your New Roles as University Professionals was delivered by a former Registrar, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Mr Oluite Omotunde Adekoya. He advised the newly converted staff to always protect their integrity and the image of the Institution, saying the success of the vision and mission of the organization rest on being a team player. The second paper was delivered by Mr Tade Adenugba, the Deputy Registrar, Human Resource Management Division with the title: Ethical issues and Discipline at Workplace. The Acng Registrar, Mr Oke commended the Staff Training, Welfare & Pension Unit of the Human Resource Management Division for organizing the training. In attendance at the event were the Deputy Registrar, Admissions, Mr Demola Adesanya; Deputy Registrar, Postgraduate College, Mr Lukmon Adesanya; Deputy Registrar, Legal Services, Barrister Ololade Ogunbanjo; the Deputy Registrar, Center for Human Rights & Gender Educaon, Mr Tunde Odugbesan and the Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs Ms Asisat Adebowale amongst others.
