TASUED HOLDS TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR SECURITY DEPT.

The Management of the Prestigious Premier and the Preferred University of Education, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun as part of its Continous Professional Development (PC) Programmes for the University’s Staff, recently held a training workshop for the Security Department of the University for effective service delivery. The 2-day in-house training workshop organised for the University Security Personnel, had as its theme, “Effective_ Policing and Campus Security Strategies in the 21st-Century_University”. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wole Banjo(FWISON, FAN) disclosed that the restructuring of the Unit became inevitable due to the serious security breaches witnessed in recent times in the Country and the need for decentralisation. The Acting Vice-Chancellor noted that the theme of the training reflected the Security challenges bedevilling the Nation’s Security adding that there was a need for all stakeholders to brazen up to overhaul their security apparatus for effective and enhanced performance.
He warned the Institution’s Security Personnel to be on top of their job and to refrain from conniving with Students to perpetrate evils, with the assurance that any Students Staff found culpable will be dismissed from the services of the University and handed over to the appropriate security agency. He however gave a pat on the back to Officers who have demonstrated professionalism in their jobs, noting that such Personnel will receive theirreward.
In his papertitled: “Security Operations: Rights of Staff and Students in the University” delivered by the Deputy Registrar, Media and Corporate Relations, Barrister benga Omilola, he admonished Security Personnel against infringement on the rights of Students while advising that Security Personnel should be courteous and friendly in the discharged of their duties.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Security Officer of the University, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ola Azzez (RTD) thanked the Institution’s Management for the Continuous training for his Men and Officers with the assurance that they will live up to their responsibilities.
Other Speakers at the event include the Chief Security Officer, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Mr Rasheed Adekunle, the University Legal Officer, Barrister Ololade Ogunbanjo, the Institution’s 2IC to the SO, Mr Moses Ogundeji among others.
