The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Prof. Wole Banjo has blamed the quality of teachers for the slow national development, noting that no nation can develop beyond the quality of it’s teachers.
He disclosed this while declaring open, A-2 Day Workshop sponsored by the Parents Teachers Association for Staff of Tai Solarin University of Education Secondary School, Igbeba, Ijebu-ode, organised recently by the Centre for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning (CITEL) of the University.
“The truism in this statement explains why concerted efforts must be geared towards producing quality teachers to galvanize rapid development of the Nation”,he further added.
Prof. Banjo further noted that Tai Solarin University of Education, remains the Nation’s Premier and Preferred University of Education and was established to tackle many of the observed gaps in Teacher’s Education in Nigeria and to proffer solutions to identified problems in teaching and learning.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Principal of the school, Mrs Beatrice Olaniyan, commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wole Banjo for his continuous support to the School especially in the area of Training teacher’s.
She noted that the Acting Vice-Chancellor has always initiated programmes aimed towards the progress of the School.
Mrs Olaniyan also appreciated the Parents Teachers Association for organising the workshop adding that teachers need to continually be retrained and re-engineered.
The 2-Day Workshop is targeted at sharpening the skills of the teachers as a new session commences.
Also present at the event were the Chairman, Board of Governor of the School, Prof.Dele Sogbesan; the PTA Chairman, Giwa Mufutau Oseni; Director, CITEL, Prof. Adekunle Bamiro; the Deputy Director, DAPQAR, Dr Jimoh Owoyele among others.

Formerly Awoyemi Abayomi Awofala of the Biological Sciences of the College of Science & Information Technology now wishes to be known as ADEYEMI ABAYOMI AWOFALA.
