To stem the decline in the quality and quantity of output of workforce in government-owned institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, a university Don has advocate for the motivation of the workforce.
This was the submission of Professor of Educational Management, Prof. Omolade Oluwatoyin Akinsanya during the 16th inaugural Lecture of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State with the title: Educational Management: the Human Resource Issues, held at the Tetfund 2012 hall of the Institution recently.
Staff of the University are part of the organization, they need a conducive working environment equipped with quality resource/facilities that can facilitate teaching, research, knowledge creation, management and development
The educational Management expert noted that the organization must heavily invest in capacity training and development as human resource are indispensable
Prof Akinsanya cited a research she carried out in 2014 on the job satisfaction and security as determinants of organizational commitment among lecturers in Ogun State, the expert revealed that a good working environment helped motivate academic staff thereby boosting their morale and enhancing more commitment to their job.
in her submission she called the government at all tiers to ensure adequate budgetary allocation for the training and retraining of teachers. she furthermore enjoined teachers to be encouraged to go for self-development programmes to acquire more skill and knowledge in their respective fields
