The Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Prof. Oluwole Banjo FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, dfisn, has called on newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 Academic Session to prioritize their studies and aim for academic excellence, including first-class Honors.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adekunle Adeogun, the Vice-Chancellor delivered this message during the opening ceremony of 2024/2025 Orientation Programme held on January 9, 2025, at the OGD Auditorium, Ijagun Main Campus.
In his address, Prof. Banjo encouraged the Students to attend lectures regularly, actively engage in academic activities, and steer clear of all forms of misconduct, particularly examination malpractice. He advised them to “mingle wisely, build meaningful friendships, and step out of their comfort zones with courage,” while urging them to uphold the good values instilled by their families.
The Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Olagunju Balogun, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of good behavior and adherence to University policies. He highlighted rules on indecent dressing, fighting, and stealing, warning that violators would face strict disciplinary actions.
Dr. Balogun further explained TASUED’s unique academic approach, which combines Degree Programmes with Vocational Training. He noted that Graduates receive two Certificates, one for their Degree and another for Vocational Studies. He urged the Students to take their vocational courses seriously, as passing them is mandatory.
Additionally, he encouraged the freshmen to familiarize themselves with the University’s Rules and Regulations to avoid sanctions.
The Two-Day Orientation also featured other key University Officials. The Director of Health Services, Dr. Gbenga Okusanya, advised students to prioritize their health and utilize the University’s Health Center as it is Staffed by Professionals.
The Director of ICT, Dr. Demola Adenubi, briefed the Students on the University’s 100% ICT-compliant system and encouraged them to report issues through the ICT Help Desk.
The Director, Physical Planning, Dr. Olarenwaju, warned against indiscriminate littering, walking on lawns, and bringing vehicles onto the Campus, stressing that offenders would face Disciplinary Panels.
Other Speakers included the Director, Counselling and Human Development, Prof. Tolu Koyejo-Ogunleye, and representatives of the University’s Bursar and Librarian.
The event was attended by Deans, Sub-Deans, Heads of Departments, Senior University Officers, and Staff of the Students’ Affairs Division.
