TASUED VC LAUDS ROTARY CLUB OF IJAGUN

…..seeks stronger partnership

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo,FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, dfisn has lauded the Rotary Club of Ijagun for its selflessness and commitment to humanitarian services.

The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation when the District Governor of Rotary Club, District 9110, Rot. Olufemi Adenekan( Irresistible DG 2024-25)recently paid him a courtesy at the University’s Council Chamber.

Prof. Owoyele, the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA), representing the Vice Chancellor, welcomed the Rotary delegation and commended the club for its recently concluded free healthcare outreach, noting that the initiatives benefited both the University’s Staff and the Host Communities, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to humanitarian service.

He lauded the synergy between Rotary’s mission and TASUED’s values, stating that the University was pleased to be associated with an organisation that prioritises peace, Community service and high quality Education. He also expressed appreciation for TASUED’s quality education, highlighting the success of TASUED Students who had benefited from the Rotary Foundation’s scholarship program. Many of these students graduated with first-class honors and excelled in national academic competitions.

In his remarks, District Governor Adenekan explained that the visit was part of the Rotary Club’s 120th-Anniversary celebrations. He emphasized the significance of the visit, describing TASUED as an Institution dedicated to “Revolutionised Education,” which aligns with Rotary’s focus on Basic Education and Literacy.

He noted that TASUED holds a unique position as Nigeria’s first Institutional-based Rotary Club.

Seeking to strengthen ties with the university, Adenekan encouraged the Institution’s Management to join the Rotary Club, stating that their involvement would inspire staff members to follow suit.

The District Governor later presented a plaque of Honour to the Vice-Chancellor.

The University Bursar, Mr. Kabiru Ogunneye; the Registrar’s representative, and other staff members were also present to receive the Rotary Club delegation, while members of the Rotary Club of Ijagun led by the President, Rot. Olori Oluyinka Omotobi Banjo and Rotaract Club of TASUED accompanied the District Governor.
