The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has announced the conferment of Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) Degrees on four eminent Nigerians at the upcoming 16th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for November 2024.
These esteemed awardees have been selected for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and their significant impact on the society.
The distinguished recipients include:
Barrister Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, a visionary entrepreneur and accomplished lawyer, who is also the founder and CEO of SIFAX Group, a leading conglomerate with diverse interests in maritime, aviation, haulage, hospitality, financial services, oil and gas. His exceptional leadership and business acumen have propelled SIFAX to the forefront of various sectors, solidifying his position as one of Nigeria’s most influential Indigenous entrepreneurs. He is to be awarded a D.Sc. in Entrepreneurship.
The second recipient is Prince (Dr.) Oluyemisi Adedoyin Shyllon, a multifaceted professional with qualifications in Engineering, Law, and Stockbroking,
Prince Oluyemisi Adedoyin Shyllon is a renowned art collector and a dedicated advocate for Nigerian arts and culture on the global stage. His passion for promoting Nigerian arts and his significant contributions to the arts community have earned him recognition as one of Africa’s most prominent art collectors. Thus, the reason he is to be awarded a D.Sc. in Creative Arts.
Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo is the third recipient. He is a celebrated entrepreneur, distinguished business leader, Phillantropist, and Community Icon. Otunba Jayeola Wasiu is a pioneer in the textile and fashion industry. His world-class designs have garnered international acclaim, and his leadership within the industry is a testament to his dedication to excellence. Otunba Taiwo is the Proprietor of Wessy College of Arts and Technology, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He is also the National President of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN). Otunba Taiwo is to be awarded a D.Sc. in Clothing and Textiles.
The fourth recipient is Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi, a graduate of Petroleum Engineering. Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi is a visionary leader who has demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial spirit throughout his career. Initially focused on the oil and gas sector, he has successfully diversified his business ventures into Education, Agriculture, and Hospitality, with Ilaji Hotels and Holiday Resorts being a notable example. Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s commitment to Education is further exemplified by his ongoing support for TASUED’s student leadership programmes and other contributions to the University.
Engr. Sanusi is to be awarded a D.Sc. in Hospitality Management.
