TASUED REWARDS ADEWALE AS TOP GLOBAL TEACHER

The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has celebrated one of its distinguished Alumni, Mr. Kayode Adewale, an Aluminus of the University, with full employment in recognition of his recent achievement as one of the Top 50 Teachers worldwide by the Global Teacher Prize.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo (FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, DFISN), announced this when Mr. Adewale paid a courtesy visit to his office.

Prof. Banjo described Mr. Adewale as a worthy ambassador of Nigeria, Ogun State, and TASUED, noting that his award has brought global recognition to the institution.

While recounting Mr. Adewale’s accomplishments, the Vice-Chancellor expressed pride in his exemplary achievements, which he attributed to Adewale’s outstanding performance as a student.

Dubbed the “Nobel Prize of the Teaching Profession,” the Global Teacher Prize celebrates Educators who have made significant contributions to Education and Society.

Mr. Adewale’s recognition is a testament to his innovative teaching methods and dedication to transforming Education.

A Fulbright TEA Fellow and nominee for the GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize, Mr. Adewale was selected from over 5,000 nominations spanning 89 countries. Now in its ninth year, the $1 million prize underscores the transformative role of Educators globally.

Mr. Adewale’s groundbreaking use of the Ijebu dialect to teach Mathematics through digital platforms has revolutionized teaching methods.

As an Educational digital content creator, he has developed training materials and traveled across Ogun State to empower teachers in integrating technology into their classrooms.

In 2022, he produced instructional videos teaching Mathematics in the Ijebu dialect, and in 2023, he was named the 2nd Runner-Up for Best Teacher in Nigeria.

Representing Ogun State and Nigeria on the global stage, Mr. Adewale has participated in international programme, including the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Fellowship in the USA and the Limitless Global Educators Programme in Houston, Texas.

Globally, Mr. Adewale collaborated with 70 Educators to translate PhET simulations into multiple languages for the University of Colorado, cementing his reputation as an international Educator.

His initiative, Transformation 5130, has trained over 5,000 teachers with support from Educators across six countries.

Locally, he spearheaded the Ogun517GoToSpace programme, which trained over 500 science educators from 517 Secondary Schools in Ogun State. This initiative introduced space exploration clubs in all 517 Schools, making Ogun State the first in Nigeria to implement such a transformative Educational project.

Mr. Adewale’s accolades include;

  • The Outstanding Youth in Education and ICT Award (2021, 2022),
  • Best Senior Secondary School Teacher Award by the Ogun State Government (2022),
  • Award of Achievement from the Ago-Iwoye Descendants Union, USA (2023).

As a space Science Educator and global collaborator, Mr. Adewale continues to inspire Educators and Students through his initiatives and his radio programme, Emancipate Through Technology, delivered in the Ijebu dialect.

TASUED celebrates Mr. Kayode Adewale for his remarkable achievements, which have brought pride to the University and positioned Nigeria as a beacon of academic excellence on the global stage.

Kayode Adewale,before his appointment was a Part -Time lecturer at the College of Specialized and Professional Education (COSPED), Department of Counselling Psychology and Educational Foundations.

Mr. Adewale is also currently pursuing his Doctorate at TASUED.
