TASUED MOURNS EX AUDITOR, YUSUF

The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State has announced the demise of its erstwhile Auditor, Mr. Salimon Adeboye Yusuf.

Mr. Salimon Adeboye Yusuf, affectionately known as Tayeshe, was born on October 25, 1958, into the humble family of Mr. and Mrs. Yusuf in Ifo local government, Ogun State.

His journey of academic and professional excellence began at African Church Primary School, Ososun, Ifo, Ogun State, followed by Lagos African Church Grammar School, Ifako, Agege, and Badagry Grammar School, Badagry.

In 1981, he pursued a National Diploma in Telecommunication at the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) Training School in Oshodi, Lagos. His thirst for knowledge led him to obtain a BSc (Hons) in Accounting from the then Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in 1986, followed by an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan in 2001.

Mr. Yusuf commenced his professional career as a Technician-in-Training at P&T NITEL, later serving as an Assistant Plant Officer from 1977 to 1982.
Following his NYSC service in Gambaru-Ngala, Maiduguri, Borno State, from 1986 to 1987, he honed his skills at Okanlawon Soboyede & Co. Chartered Accountants as an Audit Trainee until 1990.

His career at the then Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) began in April 1990, initially as an Accountant and later rose to the position of Head of Bursary by June 1993.

He transitioned to the Audit Department as the Head of Audit in April 2012, contributing significantly in various capacities. Notably, he served as the Director of Finance, at University Ventures from 2002 to 2005.

In his remarkable career, Mr. Yusuf was appointed as the Acting Bursar of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Idiroko, Ogun State, from October 2006 to December 2008. He was subsequently promoted to the position of Deputy Bursar in October 2011, a role he held until his voluntary retirement on October 25, 2023.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Yusuf was a devout Muslim and a passionate sports enthusiast.

The late former University Auditor was a dedicated hardworking member of staff who contributed immensely to the growth of the Audit Department and that of the University as a whole.

The late former Auditor died on Sunday, 4th February 2024 in his house and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
