......Ag. VC warns against indecent dressing

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adekunle Adeogun has warned the newly admitted students against indecent dressing, reiterating that the institution’s would not tolerate conduct capable of eroding academic decorum, during the 2025/2026 Academic Session Matriculation Ceremony.

Addressing guests, parents and hundreds of freshers at the event held at the University Auditorium, Ijagun, Main Campus, Prof. Adeogun disclosed that the University’s ’s dress code remains a non-negotiable standard. He stressed that inappropriate dressing is “inconsistent with the dignity and respect expected within an academic community,” adding that violators would face disciplinary action.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor also used the occasion to caution against cultism, describing it as a major threat to students’ safety and academic progress. Cult activities, he said, expose students to violence, psychological harm, poor academic performance and possible expulsion. “TASFUED maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism,” he warned.

Prof. Adeogun traced the evolution of the Institution from the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) to the first University of Education in Nigeria (TASUED), and now a federal institution with expanded responsibilities.

He noted that TASFUED’s unique 1-2-8 identity—first in Nigeria, second in Africa and eighth in the world as a specialized University of Education reflects its long-standing commitment to teacher training and innovation.

He urged the new students to embrace discipline, purposeful living and responsible decision-making, reminding them that University life is defined by choices that carry consequences.

According to him, academic success depends on punctuality, resilience and active engagement with lecturers and library resources.

Prof. Adeogun assured that the University’s uninterrupted academic calendar would help students graduate as scheduled, provided they uphold exemplary conduct.

Prof. Adeogun thanked parents and guardians for their sacrifices and expressed optimism that those present at matriculation would return to celebrate the students’ convocation.
He further welcomed the freshers into what he described as the nation’s Premier University of Education and wished them a rewarding academic journey.

Part of the event was the presentation of monetary support to 6 students of the institution who excel brilliantly in their academics at 100 level by the TASFUED National Alumni Association President, Mr Bolaji Oladeji.

The Alumni President, while speaking at the presentation urged the newly admitted students to also aspire for a similar feat at the end of their first year.

The beneficiaries of the Alumni Scholarship Awards for the 2024/2025 Academic Session were; Joseph Udo Uduma with CGPA 4.95 from the College of Science and Information Technology, (COSIT) Department of Computer Science followed by Fawaz Eniola Ramoni of the College of Social Management Sciences (COSMAS) Department of Economics with 4.86 CGPA. The next winner was Ofure Anita Joshua who scored CGPA 4.86 from the College of Specialized and Professional Education (COSPED) Department of Library and Information Science.

Friday Gabriel Ameh of the College of Agriculture and Hospitality Management, (COHAM) with CGPA 4.71. In the same vein Temitope Angelina Ogun from the College of Vocational and Technology Education (COVTED) , Business Education with CGPA 4.67 while Glory Anuoluwapo Falade of the College of Humanities (COHUM), Department of Yoruba Education with CGPA 4.53.

Prof. Adeogun while presenting the awards to the recipients congratulated them for the academic excellence displayed, he thereafter admonished them not to relent but to keep the night candle burning.

The oath of allegiance was thereafter administered by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mr. Dapo Oke MANUPA FCIA.

On the entourage of the Ag. Vice Chancellor were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Rotimi Ettu; the Bursar, Mr Kabir Ogunneye FCA; the University Librarian, Prof. Adebambo Oduwole; Dean’s, Directors and Deputy Registrar’s amongst others.

Also on hand to witness the Matriculation exercise was the Ogun State Co- ordinator, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr Hakeem Abdulhameed and MS Abiola Adekunle the Public Relations Officer of the Board.
