The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo FWISON, FASN has given kudos to some recently retired teaching Staff for their yea rs of dedication and
selflessness to the then Tai Solarin College of Education and
the Univers ty.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation during an event organised bythe Academic Staff Unionof Universities, (ASUU}in honorof some of their members who had earlier retired and those who recently bowed out of theservicesof theUnivers ty.
The honorees, were the former Director of Centre for Part Time and External Programmes(CEPEP), Prof. Tajudeen Bulugbe; former Dean, of the College of Socia l and Management Sciences, Prof. Samuel Ogundare; erstwhile Provost,of Postgraduate College,Prof. Mushay Ogundipe; Dr. Isola Clement Ojuowo,Mr.Adebiyi Olowoye,and Mr. Chukwuemeka Nnebe.
Prof.Banjo while delivering his welcome address at the occassion,noted that ASUU is truly a Union that gives priority to its members welfare.
“I commend ASUU for deeming it fit to organise an event such as this to celebrate our retiring colleagues. You have demonstrated your concern for all categories of your members with this event”,he stated.
“I want to use this medium to thank all the celebrants for all the years of sacrifice that you have put into nurture the TASUED dream.As you proceed on retirement,Iw ish all of you, a most peaceful and happy retirement years”,he added.
Speaking at the event, the branch Chairman,Or. Kazeem Rufai, noted that it was the first time that such an event would be organised for retiring colleagues in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the University and humanity in general.
The ASUU Chairman, while expressing his best w ishes to the retiring colleagues,observed that it was a joy celebrating
retirement as not everyone had the privilege of bowing out of service honorably.
He therefore admonished those still in service to be cautious of their actions and emulate the virtues of those that were
being celebrated.
The celebrants were later decorated and presented with awards of commendation for their meritorious service to the University.
Others present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Olarenwaju Adeogun; the Registrar, Mr.Dapo Oke,faci; the University Bursar,Mr.Kabiru Ogunneye; the University
Librarian,Mrs.Sola Oyesiku and Dean,College of Vocational and Technology Education (COVTED),Prof.Bayo Ayorinde amongst others.
