PARAMOUNT RULER COMMENDS TASUED FOR BLAZING THE TRAIL IN TEACHER EDUCATION

For changing the face of Teacher Education in Nigeria, Tai Solarin University of Education,Ijagun has been described as a World Class University that is uniquely positioned for equipping graduates with the necessary andragogicial and pedagogical skills as well as content knowledge for effective teaching and learning.

The Paramount Ruler of Egbaland,His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo, Okukenu IV gave this commendation at his palace when Members of the University Management Team paid him a courtesy visit recently.

Oba Gbadebo commended the State Government for establishing the first University of Education in Nigeria, adding that the State is noted for always setting the pace when it comes to matters of Education in the country . He emphasised the prominent roles the Educationist and Social Critic, the late Dr. Tai Solarin,after who, the University was named after in the annals of western education in Southwest and Nigeria as a whole.

The Royal father thanked the University Management for honouring him with a Doctorate Degree of TASUED with the assurance of making good his promise of contributing to the development of the institution’s Curriculum Department.

“I’m specially proud of TASUED. A prominent Egba son and ‘BBHS boy’ pioneered the leadership of the University during the tenure of another ‘BBHS Boy’ at the Federal level and yet another ‘BBHS Boy’ as the Governor and Visitor to the University. TASUED is indeed one of the greatest achievements of BBHS , myself also been a BBHS product”, Alake noted.

He further added that citizens should embrace education as it is the only way out of poverty and ignorance bedeviling the continent of Africa. Oba Gbadebo then prayed for the success of the Acting Vice Chancellor.

Earlier, the Acting Vice Chancellor,Prof Wole Banjo who led the team to the Alake’s palace, gave kudos to the revered Paramount Ruler,describing him as a ‘father indeed’ to the University. He further added that the royal father has always shown support for the great citadel of learning. The Acting Vice Chancellor gave his appreciation to the Oba for hosting his entourage.
He thereafter invited the Royal father to the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the University which would take place later in the year.

On the entourage of the Ag.Vice Chancellor were the Ag.Registrar, Mr Tunde Oduwole; the University Librarian, Mrs Sola Oyesiku; Deputy Registrar, Media and Corporate Relations, Mr Dapo Oke among others.
