Ogun govt partners TASUED on training of alternative dispute resolution practitioners

The Ogun State Judiciary through its Multi Door Court-House( OMDC) is partnering with the Centre for Human Rights and Gender Education (CHURGE) of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State in training Alternative Disputes Resolution Practitioners (ADR).

This was disclosed at the official signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between CHURGE and OMDC/MTI which took place recently at the University’s main Campus, Ijagun, Ogun State.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwole Banjo while speaking at the event, noted that the occasion was a historic and of great importance to the institution and the state at large.

“By the endorsement of this agreement, TASUED is blazing the trail in Alternative Dispute Resolution. We are also aligning with foremost institutions in championing a peaceful and egalitarian society where law and order will reign supreme “, Prof Banjo noted.

The Vice Chancellor enjoined community leaders, Civil Society Groups, and other social groups to embrace the opportunity offered by the initiative by nominating their representatives for training in Alternative Disputes Resolution and Mediation.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Ogun MultiDoor House Court, OMDC, Hon. Justice S.A. Olugbemi(Retired), commended TASUED for its boldness in collaborating with OMDC and Mediation Training Institute(MTI) in ADR practitioners’ training, noting that by so doing, the University has placed itself in a place of pride in the comity of the nation’s ivory towers.

The MuiltiDoor CourtHouse is a multi-faceted dispute resolution centre within the administrative structure of the court where disputes could be efficiently addressed through the mechanism best suited for the parties and the issues involved.

OMDC supplements litigation by providing additional “doors” towards a faster, cost-effective, and user-friendly access to justice.

Currently, OMDC has four Centres in Ogun State located in High Court Premises in the State’s main Divisions.
