IMAWEJE/STUDENTS’ FRACAS: TASUED SENATE YET TO REOPEN THE UNIVERSITY

The University Management wishes to inform students parents, guardians and the general public that the University Senate is yet to make decisions to reopen the University as against the rumour being peddled around that the University will be reopening tomorrow.

Please recall that following the shut down of the institution by the University Senate about 2 weeks ago, in the wake of the Imaweje/students’ clash, a Committee was set up to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and the circumstances that led to the death of a 300 level student of the University.

Consequently, the University Senate would hold a meeting tomorrow, 13th June, 2023, to receive and consider the reports of the Committee and thereafter take necessary decisions as regards the reopening of the University.

The University wishes to put it on record that there would be an official announcement for the reopening of the institution.
Members of the public are hereby enjoined to monitor the media for the official announcement.

In the meantime, parents and guardians are advised not to allow their wards back on Campus until the University is officially re-opened.

Thank you.
