ANUPA-TASUED HOSTS COLLOQUIUM IN HONOUR OF REGISTRAR AT MID-TERM

In recognition of his achievements halfway into his tenure, the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun(TASUED) Chapter of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) recently organised a colloquium in honour of the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Oladapo Sunday Oke, FCIA, fsin, MANUPA.

The event, themed “Midway Through the Journey: Reflecting on 2½ Years of Administrative Leadership and Charting the Path Forward”, was held at the University Senate Chamber.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwole Banjo, FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, dfisn represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Adekunle Adeogun described Mr. Oke as a consummate professional and a key driver of recent reforms in the University’s Registry.

He commended the Registrar for his invaluable contributions to institutional growth, stressing that the colloquium served as a platform for feedback, assessment, and future planning.

“Feedback is a tool for improvement. Please express your views objectively. We can’t do it alone without the input of all stakeholders, which is why we operate an open-door policy,” the Vice Chancellor noted.

The Chairman, ANUPA-TASUED, Mr. Abayomi Obasan, praised Mr. Oke’s visionary leadership and highlighted the developmental strides recorded during his mid-term in office. He noted that the Registrar’s efforts had enhanced TASUED’s standing as a model University of Education and had facilitated sponsorship opportunities for members of the association.

Mr. Tade Adenugba, the Deputy Registrar, Human Resource Management Division, delivered the keynote address. He described Mr. Oke as a firm believer in due process and global best practices.

While acknowledging the modernisation efforts within the Registry, he pointed out areas requiring further attention in the remaining half of the Registrar’s tenure. These include completing the review of conditions of service, employing additional staff, enforcing proper handover procedures, promoting responsible use of artificial intelligence, and adopting cloud-based document storage solutions.

In his remarks, Mr. Oladapo Oke expressed gratitude to the ANUPA-TASUED leadership for organising the event. He attributed the successes recorded so far to the collective support of the University Management and his team of Deputy Registrars. “With competent people working together, success is inevitable,” he noted.

Looking ahead, the Registrar pledged to continue building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessors. On the issue of staff development, he urged non-teaching staff to submit their training, seminar, or conference requests at least three months in advance. He clarified that while TETFund provides 20% sponsorship for non-teaching staff, it does not cover Ph.D. programmes.

The event was well-attended by senior University officials including the representative of the Bursar; the Managing Director, TASUED Microfinance Bank, Mr. Yakubu Oyebowale; Deputy Registrar, Council and Legal Affairs Division, Mr. Adekoya Tunde Oluite; Deputy Registrar and Secretary, The Postgraduate College, Mr. Adebisi Sharafadeen; Deputy Registrar, Senate Affairs, Mrs.Yemisi Adeleye; Deputy Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Onawoga; and Deputy Registrar, Media and Corporate Relations, Mr. Babatunde Odugbesan amongst others.

As part of the event, awards were presented to outstanding units and individuals, including the Director of ICT, Dr. Ademola Adenubi; TTI-Hub; the Postgraduate College; various divisions of the Registry; Academic Affairs; Council and Legal Affairs; Students’ Affairs; Media and Corporate Relations; and the Security Division.
