The Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijagun, Prof. Samuel Oladipo MNPA, CMCPN, MCAN, FIELPN, has commended Dr Tajudeen Odufeso of the Department of Counselling Psychology and Educational Foundations, College of Professional and Specialised Education (COSPED), on his recent appointment as an Associate Editor of Cogent Education, an internationally recognised Education journal published by Taylor & Francis Group, United Kingdom.

Prof. Oladipo described the appointment as a significant recognition of Dr Odufeso’s scholarship, professional competence, research expertise and sustained contribution to knowledge, noting that it was not only a personal academic achievement but also a source of pride for TASFUED.

He explained that the editorial responsibility would require sound academic judgement, intellectual integrity, attention to research quality and a strong understanding of contemporary educational scholarship, as Dr. Odufeso would be expected to engage with submitted manuscripts, coordinate aspects of the peer-review process and make informed recommendations to the Senior Editor.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the appointment had further demonstrated the intellectual capacity and growing international visibility of academics at TASFUED, stressing that a University’s global reputation was built not only through its infrastructure, academic programmes and student population, but also through the quality, visibility and international relevance of the scholarship produced by its academics.

Prof. Oladipo noted that every peer-reviewed publication, research collaboration, editorial appointment, keynote address, fellowship and other scholarly contribution by members of the University added to the institution’s growing reputation on the global academic stage and Webometrics ranking.

He further encouraged emerging academics and early-career researchers at TASFUED to draw inspiration from the achievements by actively taking their research to the international community through quality publications, scholarly collaborations, manuscript reviews, conferences and participation in international academic networks.

He urged them to build research identities around issues of significance to humanity and to seek opportunities to contribute meaningfully to global scholarship rather than waiting for recognition to come to them.

According to him, Dr. Odufeso’s appointment demonstrated that global recognition could be the outcome of consistent local excellence, adding that the journey to international visibility began with meaningful research, the courage to publish, willingness to learn from others and sustained commitment to scholarly contribution.

The Vice-Chancellor assured that the University would continue to promote a culture in which teaching excellence was reinforced by research excellence, while creating opportunities for its academics to engage globally and translate knowledge into societal impact.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the new editorial responsibility would open further opportunities for Dr. Odufeso in research collaboration, international engagement and intellectual contribution, while congratulating the Department of Counselling Psychology and Educational Foundations, the College of Specialised and Professional Education and the entire TASFUED community on the achievement.
