TASUED HOLDS VIRTUAL ORIENTATION FOR 2025/2026 SIWES PARTICIPANTS

The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, has successfully held a virtual orientation programme for students participating in the 2025/2026 Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). Organised by the university’s SIWES Unit in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Abeokuta Area Office. The event which was aimed at preparing undergraduates across various disciplines for their upcoming industrial attachments by familiarising them with the scheme’s objectives, expectations, and operational guidelines.

Delivering his welcome address, TASUED SIWES Coordinator, Dr. Hassan Kassim, lauded the ITF, particularly the Area Manager, Mrs. Bolanle Ajibade, and her team, for their unwavering support. He emphasized TASUED’s dedication to combining academic theory with practical experience, noting that SIWES remains a vital element in the university’s academic structure.
Dr. Kassim encouraged the students to approach their training with professionalism and a learning mindset, stating that the experience often leads to full-time employment or entrepreneurial ventures.
He further urged students to act as worthy ambassadors of TASUED during their placements.

In her remarks, Mrs. Ajibade, the ITF Abeokuta Area Manager, underscored the importance of SIWES in improving students’ employability. She noted that many students had secured employment at their training organisations due to exemplary conduct and performance. She commended TASUED’s Management for its continued partnership with the ITF and advised the students to remain disciplined and committed throughout the programme.

Additional presentations were delivered by Ms. Cynthia Otuwarikpo, SIWES Officer, who outlined ‘the history, objectives, and conduct expected of students’, and Mr. Oluwakolade Aje, Training and Development Officer, who spoke on ‘Safety tips during industrial attachment’.

The 2025 SIWES exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, 21st July 2025. Students from Departments such as Agricultural Science Education, Business Education, Secretariat Administration, Home and Hotel Management, Industrial Technical Education, Accounting Education, Geography and Environmental Management, Creative Arts, and Computer Education will undertake a 12-week training.

Meanwhile, students from departments including Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Library and Information Studies will embark on a more intensive 24-week industrial attachment, aimed at deepening their practical skills and industry readiness.
