The College of Vocational and Technology Education (COVTED) was created on 15th November, 2016 and commenced activities during the 2016 second semester with the appointment of the pioneer Dean, Prof. O. S. Banjo, a Professor of wild life and Ecotourism, who later became the Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. W. L. Akintayo of the Department of Home Economics and Hotel Management was appointed as the Sub-Dean of the College while the current dean is Professor Anthony O.O. Oyenuga.
