TASUED VICE CHANCELLOR ADVOCATES SYNERGY BETWEEN ALUMNI ASSOCIATIONS, ALMA MATERS

 

The place of Alumni Association in the development of ivory towers has once  again been re-emphasised, with a call on Alumni of  tertiary institutions not to neglect the schools that moulded them.

 

These were the words of the Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education,  ijagun, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu at the commissioning of a solar-powered workstation donated by an alumnus of the institution.

 

While speaking at the event, Prof. Arigbabu commended the donor,   Mr.Tobi Oyinlola, a graduate of Telecommunication and Information Technology of the University for remembering his Alma mater. He said the way forward for the development of education sector in the country rests on the tripod support of stakeholders.

 

The Vice Chancellor further added that the solar-powered workstation with internet facility called IOT will be replicated across the campus, which will give students the opportunity to charge their laptops and phones and at the same time, use the internet for their academic work on campus

 

In his response, the donor,  Mr.Tobi Oyinola said he decided to donate the solar-powered workstation in order to encourage students to read harder  despite the poor access to power supply in the country.

 

 He further noted that the project is fully automated, with users having to register ahead with their matriculation numbers before accessing the workstation, adding that the workstation will shutdown automatically at the expiration of the time.

 

Mr. Oyinola, therefore, commended the University Management for changing the face of TASUED by driving the productivity of members of staff and students through the use of  ICT, which enhances learning and teaching.

 

Those present at the commissioning were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wole Banjo; the Ag. Registrar, Mr. Tunde Oduwole; the Ag. Bursar, Mr. Bunmi Abdullahi; the University Librarian, Mrs. Sola Oyesiku and President of the National Alumni Association, Mr. Oyekanmi Abdullahi amongst others.
